GTA 4 - Where did Grand Theft Auto 4 UK copies disappear?

Gameseek has GTA 4 in stock - it and Amazon UK (GTA4 at Amazon £10 off) are the only stores in the UK that I could find with availability. It does have £49.99 pricing, or you can go with Play.com for £39.99 (they’re saying that they’ll ship as soon as they get them back in stock). Asda Online - £37. GTA 4 at ASDA is sold out and you can order now to have your copy dispatched 5th May. [ Last Updated at 7:31 pm 28th April, 2008] Grand Theft Auto 4 was ‘THE GAME’ for 2008, and yet demand has overwhelmed supply and UK’s top stores are out of GTA4 copies (except for Amazon UK).

News Update: GTA4 sold a record 609,000 copies on its first day of release, generating an estimated £24.4m ($48.5m). The previous record holder was GTA: San Andreas, which sold 501,000 copies in 24 hours in October 2004.

Here’s what the latest status is

  1. Amazon has it in stock - GTA4 at Amazon £10 off. 
  2. Gameseek has GTA 4 in stock.
  3. Play.com £39.99 - sold out online - although they say that they’ll ship as soon as they have availability so consider ordering.
  4. Woolworths £39.99 - out of stock online. In Store - ??.
  5. GAME will be opening 260 stores across the country from midnight tonight to enable people to get their hands on a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV as soon as possible.
  6. Asda Online - £37. GTA 4 at ASDA is sold out and you can order now to receive your copy 5th May.
  7. ASDA in stores - a few individual stores open at 12 midnight + x? copies per store. . Call and confirm.
  8. Blockbusters £39.99 - can’t find GTA4 on their website so perhaps its only in store. Call and confirm.

    i ordered the game ‘Grand Theft Auto IV’ mid march and have not recieved the game i paid for, the estimated dispatch date has moved from 27th of april to 21st of MAY what is going on? this is the last time i buy from amazon.co.uk and i would not recommend them to anyone else in the future. i hope im hope im not the only customer who they have screwed over but anyway guess im just gonna have to wait and see what happens just hope i get it befor the end of this month, to everyone who already has the game enjoy and count yourself lucky that they actually gave a copy to you and not me

    thanks for the update - i’ve changed from recommending amazon uk to recommending gameseek if you’re ready to pay full price, and asda and paly if you still want the 10 pound discount. i’d recommend purchasing at one of these stores and cancelling the amazon offer. all the best.
